Stephanie Rice (The Voice)
Stephanie Rice is a Texas born pop-rock singer-musician who recently found international acclaim on Season 12 of NBC’s The Voice. Sharing her powerful story of resilience through emotional, compelling performances, Stephanie touched thousands of viewers who discovered in her a source of inspiration and hope. After coming out as a lesbian to her parents 10 years ago, she became estranged, finding herself completely alone and unwanted. She climbed the mountain of misery and successfully made it to the other side of freedom and happiness. She moved to Houston and graduated with honors with a BS in Biology at the University of Houston. She entered the professional medical field where she conducted ground-breaking research involving HIV, later even publishing an article for the Journal of Aids.
After making it to the top 11 finalists of The Voice, Stephanie left the show empowered with validation and support, from fans around the world, including her coach and mentor, Alicia Keys, who called Stephanie “the purest artist on this show… you are a producer, you are a musician, you play multiple instruments, you are a writer, you are exactly what an artist is supposed to be.”
DJ Zehno, the winner of the 2018 Dinah Shore DJ battle in California is anything but ordinary: proud member of the LGBTQ community, a practicing Nichiren Buddhist, certified EMT, and certified boss babe. Born in the Dominican Republic, raised in Miami, DJ Zehno has made quite a name for herself as founder and curator of Blend The Femme: a monthly female empowerment art and music event showcase, where she and artists are activists and creatively advocates for intersectional feminism, and sociopolitical change on a global scale.
Dopamine has been setting decks on fire since 2011. Calgary born, Winner of California based DJ Competition in 2016, she has toured across Canada into Miami & is making a second home in California. She's playing major music festivals like Dinah Shore, Long Beach Pride & AquaGirl to name a few. Resident DJ of SuperGirl Pro and host of a weekly Radio show on Latino World Radio (LA), she is a major force of visibility for women in electronic music and is known for flawless transitions, BPM bouncing and genre fusion live mixing mashups and remixes!
Kookum has been holding it down in Vancouver DJing clubs, festivals, and performing with hip hop artists. Kookum’s favourite music is edm trap and hip hop. When it comes to mixing she slays, and always keeps it girly but gangsta during a set. Kookum also facilitates DJ workshops, hosts youth dances, and has been traveling to indigenous community’s to share her art. She is working on cooking up beats in the studio and is excited to release her first track fall 2018.
Riki Rocket (UK/BC)
First starting as a DJ in the UK, Riki has over 10yrs tucked under her belt specializing in House, Rnb, HipHop, Electro & Indie. Her main international residencies were at the famous Candy Bar Brighton/London, Wild Fruit and Ghetto Brighton. She has played numerous clubs throughout the South of England and has played at festivals and events in Europe including Dublin, Gran Canaria and Zurich. Rocket has also showcased her talents outside of Europe when she was one of the headliners at the 'Bitch' parties for Sydney Mardi Gras. Over the years she has tag teamed with Dj's from Fabric/China Whites/Ministry of Sound/Digital/BBC 1 Xtra and opened for "Chicks on Speed" @ Brighton Pride and was chosen to play at a fashion shoot for Naomi Campbell.
Miss M (Dinah)
DJ MISS M has proven to be one of the busiest Open-Format Female DJ’s in the world. NYC’s Global Spin Awards WINNER for International DJ of the year, Resident Dinah Shore Weekend DJ, Dinah Shore Battle DJ Winner, 3x Toronto’s Stylus Award Nominee and on, she will definitely continue to dominate throughout the coming years. Slade (Queer as Funk)
Hailing from Vancouver BC, DJ Slade has been sharing her eclectic taste in music with audiences since 2013. Be it neo-soul, funk, old school hip hop and r&b, or contemporary pop favourites, she loves igniting that spark in a crowd’s soul and boosting it higher and higher. When she’s not behind the decks, DJ Slade can often be found performing with the band, as Queer As Funk’s resident DJ.
Carolina Campos (Brazil-Vancity)
Carolina Campos brings her Brazilian heat to Canada with Latin references and old school vocals inspired by artists like Chus & Ceballos, Victor Calderone, Peter Rauhofer, Danny Tenaglia, Rene Amezs, Weiss, Honey Dijon, Hot Since 82, Marco Carolla, Carl Cox, Roger Sanchez, Jamie Jones and many others. Her mission for the dance-floor is to play music that makes people close their eyes, dance and forget the world.
Rose Garcia (The Real L Word)
Rose Garcia was the inspiration for Papi's character on the original scripted series "The L Word." When creator Ilene Chaiken decided to green light a Docu-series (reality) version of her successful show she looked to Rose and asked her to participate. After a brief meeting with casting, Rose was in, and it was showtime! Her stint on the first season of The Real L Word catapulted her into the spotlight. A real estate professional who juggled her professional life, a traditional Puerto Rican Catholic family, and her lesbian social life life made for great television. There is a lot more to this reality star business woman than meets the eye. She is committed to her family, business, and LGBTQ causes and awareness.
